Ethnic Clash: Ethiopian government revises death toll
The Ethiopian government has revised the death toll arising from the ethnic clashes that hit the eastern part of the country.
Information minister, Negeri Lencho, said hundreds of people were killed on both sides of the feud adding that the exact figure was yet to be ascertained.
A week ago, a senior regional official confirmed that clashes along the border of Ethiopia’s Oromia and Somali regions displaced around 50,000 people killing at least 50 others.
Reports say, the area has been plagued by sporadic clashes for decades and efforts to settle the disputes proved to no avail.
However, the respective regional governments have blamed each other for the clashes.
