Election rally stampede claims 10 lives in Mozambique

A stampede at an election rally for president Filipe Nyusi has left at least 10 people dead in Mozambique.

A statement from the governing Frelimo party says eighty-five people were also  injured.

The crush at a stadium in the northern city of Nampula happened as people were trying to leave the venue once the president had departed.

Mr Nyusi is running for a second term in office in general elections scheduled for 15th of October.
