Ekiti airport: Oyebanji assures compensation to displaced farmers

The Ekiti State Government has assured aggrieved farmers whose farms were affected by the ongoing airport project along Ado-Ijan Road that it is ready to pay the remaining compensation as soon as possible.

Governor Biodun Oyebanji gave the assurance when the farmers visited his office in Ado Ekiti.

Earlier, the farmers from communities including Igbemo, Orun, Afao, ijan, Igbogun, Bolorunduro, Iwajo, Aso and Agọ̀ Aduloju in Ado, Irepodun/Ifelodun and Gbonyin local government areas, led by the Edemo of Igbemọ̀, Chief Ojo Awe, appealed to the governor Oyebanji to address their grievances over the non-payment of compensations promised by the state government.

The farmers said they were not against the land acquisition for the airport project, but they wanted to be properly rewarded.

The farmers who had earlier protested to the governor’s office was said to be owned over four hundred million naira.
