Ekiti 2018: Youths are the tools not the fools -Daramola
A member of the seventh National Assembly, Bimbo Daramola says youths can change the world through politics by becoming actively and meaningfully involved throughout political parties and beyond.
Daramola made the disclosure in Ado Ekiti during a youth summit tagged “Youth leaders, tools or fools” to garner support for his campaign organization ahead of the July 14th Governorship election in the state.
Daramola a Gubernatorial aspirant of the All Progressives Congress APC told newsmen that the rationale behind the forum was to task the youths to see themselves as viable tools capable of liberating the State.
He further said that the youths are the engine room of the party with lots of responsibilities resting upon their shoulders, while asking them to utilise their God given potentials.
“If you want to find out how healthy a political party is, you have to look at the demographic of the young people. It is not every time that this population get the attention that they required, and when we meet flight footed men who are also strong, I think these are the people you can put the ideas of the party to” .
“MKO Abiola once said, that when you want to bend the fish, you bend it when it’s fresh, you don’t bend the fish when it’s dry”.
He maintained that the young people are the people of impressionable age, whom he said he did not only come to sell his candidature to but also ready to reiterate the ideas and ideals of the party, adding that he came to infuse in them what the next Governorship election means to them and the entire state.
Daramola posited that the July 14th Governorship election will determine what will become of their lives in another couple of years, while charging them to make the decision that will impact their lives, their families and the state by extension.
He noted that the July election is not an election anyone can afford to joke with, stressing that he has come to orientate the youths the understanding and philosophy that will make them attain their greater heights in life.
The APC chieftain pointed out that it is only the such understanding and imbibing of that philosophy that will drive their commitment.
According to him, “If we don’t have a youth population who are convinced, they cannot be committed, if they are not committed, they cannot be convicted, if they are not convicted, they cannot prosecute any election”.
The Governorship hopeful also charged the youths to do away with moneybag politicians who places money on them for election purposes, adding that such politician has nothing for them.
Daramola nevertheless urged Ekiti youths to embrace someone who recognises them for whom they are and ready to make them tools to be able to emancipate from the clutches and verse grips of hunger, illness, illiteracy as well as liberating them in order to hep them to attaining their God given potentials and for them to thereafter impact on the state and nation at large.
