Climate Change Minister Gets black eye from Street Assault

New Zealand’s climate change minister has been assaulted in the street while on his way to parliament house.

Green Party co-leader James Shaw was punched in the face this morning in wellington.

A green party spokesperson described the attack as provoked and said Mr Shaw, who suffered a black eye, has gone to the hospital for a precaution check-up.

It is still unclear whether the attack on Mr Shaw was politically motivated.

However, a 47 year old man has been arrested and will appear in court on Friday.
