Borno Govt. warns fishermen against aiding Boko Haram insurgents
Borno state government has warned fishermen and fish merchants against aiding Boko Haram insurgents so as to fast-track successful implementation of the counter-insurgency campaign.
The state governor, Kashima Shettima, gave the warning during the head over of seven trucks seized by the military at Maimalari cantonment in Maiduguri.
The trucks were seized while conveying suspected fishery commodities to insurgents.
Shettima tasked the fishermen association to sensitize its members on the need to support the military to enable them defeat the insurgents and restore peace to the state.
He also warned the fishermen to desist from any aiding and abating insurgency or face the full wrath of law.
The governor commended the efforts of the military towards tackling insurgency, noting that activities of the group had caused monumental damage to the state.
