Boko Haram Suspects, women brutally tortured in Cameroun – Amnesty International
A rights group says security forces in Cameroon have brutally tortured suspected Boko Haram fighters.
In a statement, Amnesty International says the suspects including women and children were beaten, water boarded and forced into stress positions.
The statement adds that the cases allegedly happened between 2013 and 2017 and claimed the lives of many detainees as a result.
Cameroon’s government has not commented on the issue.
The Islamist group based in neighbouring Nigeria frequently carries out attacks in the country and they have killed over one thousand civilians in Cameroon since 2014 and abducted many others.
