Awo-Ekiti Kingship Crisis: Court reserves judgement
The Appellate Court Sitting in Ado-Ekiti has reserved judgement in the appeal filed by Oba Abdulazeez Olaleye, the Alawo of Awo Ekiti.
Oba Olaleye had on March the 1st 2021 been directed by the Ekiti State High Court Sitting in Ado-Ekiti to stop parading himself as Alawo of Awo-Ekiti on the ground that his installation as the monarch of the town was characterized with irregularities.
But dissatisfied with the court’s ruling, the monarch approached the appeal court to seek redress.
Counsel to the traditional ruler Olanrewaju Babakebe told the court that he has filed brief of Argument on 22nd of January 2022, and appellant brief of argument filed on 28 of February 2022.
Seeking the leave of the court to adopt appellant brief of argument and appellant reply brief, for the court to grant the appeal.
On his part, counsel to the Aladejuyigbe’s ruling house, Dayo Akinlaja SAN Adopted the submissions in the first respondent brief of argument, while urging the court to dismiss the appeal filed by the appellant.
Akinlaja spoke to Adaba FM news on the reason while he prayed the court to dismiss the appeal.
The court consequently reserved judgement on the matter till a date that would be communicated to the parties involved.
