Australian man charged for promoting Islamic State
An Australian man charged for sending money to a United States citizen fighting for the so-called Islamic state in Syria is to appear in a Melbourne court today.
The man was arrested at his home after a 16-month investigation by counter-terrorism authorities.
Police allege that the Australian national helped run a promotional website for the United States man and sent about a 5,000 dollar to him in Syria.
Authorities said there is no current threat to the public.
