Kano re-run: CUPP rejects result

Forty-two political parties in Kano under the aegis Coalition of Unites Political Parties in the state have rejected the results of the supplementary governorship election held on March 23.

They alleged that the process was characterized by gross irregularities.

The state CUPP chairman, Mohammed Abdullahi-Raji made the position of the group known while addressing a news conference in Kano, on Tuesday.

Abdullahi-Raji expresses dismay over the violence, over-voting, intimidation and open vote buying, among other numerous irregularities recorded during the supplementary polls.

He accused security agencies and INEC of compromise, stressing that they turned blind eye to the irregularities and went ahead to declare the winner.

Abdullahi-Raji said the coalition had decided to take legal action on the situation, as soon as possible.
