Party agents disrupt collation of result in Imo state

The collation and announcement of result have been abruptly suspended in Imo state due to violent protests at the INEC collation centre in Owerri.

Reports say, trouble started when the returning officer from Ideato South Local Government was asked to announce the result of the area.

The returning officer had barely sat down to announce the result when the agents of the PDP, Democratic Alternatives and Redemption Party protested the announcement of the results from Ideato south.

The serious argument and verbal altercation that ensued led to the tearing of the governorship election result sheet for Ideato South Local Government.

In the midst of the violence, the agent of the PDP was arrested while Imo state’s resident electoral commissioner and the state returning officer were whisked away to safety leading to the abrupt stoppage of the exercise.
