India launches air strikes on Pakistani territory

India says it launched air strike against Kashmiri militants in Pakistani territory after a suicide bombing that killed 46 Indian soldiers, earlier this month.

A top Indian minister said strikes targeted a training camp of the Jaish-e-Mohammed group in Balakat.

The move represents an escalation of hostilities between the two nuclear-armed neighbours.

Indian foreign secretary Vijay Gokhale told newsmen that the strike killed a large number of militants.
