Mugabe Finally Succumbs, Tenders Resignation Letter
President Robert Mugabe has finally resigned amidst plans to impeach him and uproar from Zimbabweans.
Parliament speaker Jacob Mudenda said he received Mugabe’s resignation letter on Tuesday.
Mugabe In the letter said that the decision was voluntary and that he had made it to allow a smooth transition of power.
The surprise announcement halted an impeachment hearing that had begun against him.
Lawmakers roared in jubilation and people have begun celebrating in the streets.
His resignation was greeted with wild jubilation among Zimbabweans, who trooped to every major road to celebrate an end to the 37 years rules.
