INEC announces 12 states governorship result as more underway

Eight out of the 11 governors who sought reelection in the March 18 polls held across Nigeria have been officially declared winners by INEC to return to office for another four-year term each.

They are governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun, governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo, governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara, governor Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa, governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi and governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe states.

Also, five newcomers have won governorship elections in the country, Umo Eno in Akwa Ibom, Umar Namadi in Jigawa, Dikko Radda in Katsina, and Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto in Sokoto states.

Of the 13, nine of them belong to the ruling party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), three are members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and one is a member of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

In total, 12 states out of 28 governorship results has been announced by INEC
