Workers set for showdown with Governor Dapo Abiodun
Ogun state workers have threatened to embark on strike in seven days if the state government fails to address the various concerns related to their welfare and pension issues.
A statement by the chairpersons of NLC, Comrade Emmanuel Bankole, TUC, Comrade Akeem Lasis, and Comrade Isa Olude of JNC calls attention to growing restiveness among employees in the state civil and public service.
The statement says while the unions have called for immediate dialogue with the state government, there has been neither official response nor acknowledgement to the letter as at date.
It asks the state government to attend to the issues within the next seven days or face industrial dispute.
The statement outlines the challenges facing workers in the state to include non-remittal of 21 months deductions, deliberate breach of the state pension reform law in the implementation of the contributory pension scheme among others.
