50, 000 people displaced by clashes in Ethiopia, Somali regions
A senior regional official says clashes along the border of Ethiopia’s Oromiya and Somali regions have displaced around fifty thousand people.
Spokespersons from the two regions told newsmen that at least fifty people were killed.
Some officials in Oromiya said it was sparked by the killing of a local district head and raids by a paramilitary force from the Somali region.
President of Oromiya province, Lema Megersa said those responsible for the violence should also be held to account.
However, officials from the Somali region denied those claims.
