Mapoly Students released after collegues raise ransom funds
Moshood Abiola Polytechnic students, Adejare Olayemi (male) and Oluwatobi Orekoya (female), and one Aminat Taiwo (female), kidnapped on Friday on their way to Ibadan, Oyo State have been released.
The students were kidnapped alongside a former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Adigun Agbaje. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of 50 million naira for the Professor and 10 million naira for each student.
The students and the professor were reportedly picked up near the Sat Guru Maharaji Garden, Ibadan end of the expressway.
Friends and Colleagues of the kidnapped students started a fundraising campaign to pay the ransom.
However, reports on the Professor’s release are unconfirmed.
