Curfew: 15 arrested for violating order in Ekiti

Day one of the Ekiti State Government’s imposition of twenty four hours curfew on Ado Ekiti, the Ekiti state capital and it’s environs has left many major streets and roads in the state capital, and Ikere Ekiti deserted.

Governor Kayode Fayemi had on Tuesday directed a total shut down of the State as a result of protest and counter attack by #ENDSARs protesters which has left some persons dead, while property worth millions of naira were vandalized in the state.

By early morning today, Adaba FM’s Correspondent, Tunde Akinlabi who went round the state capital reports that some pedestrians and motorists who hit the roads in Ado Ekiti were turned back by security men around Fajuyi, Okesa and Adebayo areas of the State capital.

About fifteen pedestrians were also arrested by a team of security personnel deployed to enforce the curfew order at Fajuyi area near the Government house.

It was not clear if the arrested persons who were ordered to sit on bare floor under the flyover near the Government house were later released.

As at the time of this report only persons on essential duties like officials of the State Government, medical personnel and others were allowed to move out while barricades erected on major roads by #ENDSARS Protesters have been removed.
