NBF praises D’Tigers’ coach over world cup qualification

Nigerian Basketball Federation Board Member Col. Samuel Ahmedu (Rtd) says D’tigers coach Alex Nwora has justified his appointment after qualifying the team for the FIBA men’s basketball world cup in China.

Nwora who was appointed by the NBBF in 2017 also guided D’tigers to the finals of the FIBA Afrobasket championship that same year.

Ahmedu admitted that Nwora’s decision which was greeted with skepticism by a section of the basketball family has now been justified with the results recorded since he took over.

Ahmedu, the FIBA Africa zone 3 president said the initial belief that Nwora’s appointment was based on sentiments has now been dispelled with many embracing his style.

He also added that despite rooms for improvement as the world cup beckons, Nigerians should appreciate the Anambra state born coach for what he has been able to achieve since taking over.
