Gangs: 27,000 children in England say they are members

The UK’s children commissioner Anne Longfield has reported that there are 27,000 children aged between 10 and 17 identified as being part of a gang.

It adds that 313,000 children know a gang member while 34,000 has experienced violent crime.

Longfield said gangs using sophisticated techniques to groom children and chilling levels of violence to keep them compliant.

Meanwhile, the home office declared that it was committed to protecting vulnerable children.
