Seventeen die in Delhi hotel fire

At least 17 people have died in a Delhi hotel fire that broke out in the early hours of today.

The dead include a woman and a child who attempted to jump from a window to safety.

35 people were rescued, with some injured and rushed to hospital with suffocation being the cause of most of the deaths.

Hotel Arpit Palace is located in Karol Bagh, Delhi, India an area popular with tourists.

Investigation is still going on as to the cause of the fire.
