Students Unrest: Ondo Govt Sets Up Inquiry Committee

Ondo State Government has set up a committee of inquiry following the recent protest by the students of the Ondo state -owned Rufus Giwa Polytechnic Owo, which resulted in wanton destruction of the school and individuals properties.

Governor of the state , Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu SAN, on Wednesday constituted Four-Man Committee of Inquiry to look into the immediate and remote causes of the students rampage.

The Committee has Pastor Oyekan Arije as Chairman,
Engineer Akintunde Aminu and Comrade Francis Falohun are members,while Mr. Olufemi O. Moyinolorun will serve as Secretary.

A statement issued and signed in Akure by the State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi stated that the Committee has the following as its Terms of Reference:

1. To look into the remote and immediate causes of the violent protest.
2.To determine the extent of damage done to the school and private properties and place cost on them
3. To determine those who had in one way or the other contributed to the unrest
4. To determine the reparation by each student
5. To make such other recommendations which the Committee may find necessary in the circumstances.
The Committee has three weeks to submit its report.
