US imposes sanctions on Russian, Chinese companies for supporting Korea nuclear weapons

The United States has imposed sanctions on a dozen Russian and Chinese companies and individuals it accuses of helping North Korea’s nuclear weapons programme.

This comes after the United Nations Security Council, including Russia and China, voted for further sanctions against Pyongyang.

The United States treasury said its actions would increase pressure on North Korea, but the move has angered China.

Meanwhile, the United States officials say the country’s Navy will dismiss the commander of the seventh fleet Joseph Aucoin.

This follows a string of collisions involving warships in Asia.

Ten sailors were still missing after a ship collided with an oil tanker near Singapore on Monday.

Navy officials say human remains have since been found on the ship which is now in port in Singapore.
